Our editorial focus and our advertising partnerships are oriented toward the United States, but our website is generally accessible internationally. If you reside outside the United States, please be aware that any information you provide will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection rules may differ from those of your home jurisdiction.

3. Children Under 16
Insightful Word is intended for adult readers and is not directed to children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@insightfulword.com and we will delete that information promptly in accordance with applicable law, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable.
4. Information We Collect
4.1 Information You Provide Directly
We collect information you give to us when you interact with the site. This includes, depending on the activity:
- Your email address, when you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Any name, contact details, or other information you choose to provide if you contact us by email or through a contact form.
- Any feedback, comments, survey responses, or other written content you submit to us voluntarily.
4.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access https://insightfulword.com, certain information is collected automatically by our servers and by the analytics, security, and advertising service providers we use. This information includes:
- Internet protocol (IP) address and approximate location derived from that address.
- Information about the device and software you use to access the site, such as device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, and language preferences.
- Information about your interaction with the site: which pages you view, when you arrived, how you arrived, how long you stayed, and which links you clicked.
- Information collected by cookies and similar technologies (described in Section 7).
- Aggregated email-engagement information, such as whether a newsletter you received was opened or whether you clicked a link inside it. This is collected through pixels and tracked links embedded in the email.
4.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from outside sources where doing so is permitted by law. Examples include analytics providers, advertising networks, fraud-prevention vendors, and email-deliverability services. The information we receive in this way typically describes your activity on other websites or your inferred interests, and is used to measure the effectiveness of advertising and to improve the relevance of content and offers presented to you.
5. How We Use Information
We use information collected through the activities described above for the following purposes:
- To operate and maintain the site, deliver our newsletter, and respond to messages you send us.
- To improve our editorial coverage by analyzing which articles, topics, and formats are most useful to readers.
- To send promotional content, including advertising offers from our advertising partners, to subscribers who have opted in to our newsletter (see Section 6 for details on partner sharing).
- To measure the performance of advertising campaigns, including measuring how subscribers interact with promotional emails.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse of the site, security incidents, and violations of our Terms & Conditions.
- To comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and enforce our legal rights.
- For any additional purpose disclosed to you at the time we collect information, or with your consent.
6. How We Share Information, Including with Advertising Partners
6.1 Plain-language Disclosure
Our newsletter is monetized through advertising partnerships. When you subscribe to our newsletter, you should expect to receive promotional content from third-party advertisers in addition to our editorial content. In order to make this possible, we share certain information about subscribers with our advertising partners and with the email-delivery, analytics, and attribution providers that operate the underlying technology. The categories of information shared, the categories of recipients, and the purposes are described below.
6.2 Categories of Recipients
- Advertising partners: third-party companies that supply the promotional offers featured in our newsletter and on the site. We share with advertising partners the email-engagement information needed to measure whether their offers are effective (for example, whether a subscriber clicked through to a partner’s landing page) and, where required to deliver an offer the subscriber has shown interest in, contact information sufficient to facilitate that delivery.
- Email service providers and deliverability vendors: companies that send email on our behalf, manage our subscriber lists, process unsubscribes, and protect our sending reputation.
- Analytics providers: companies that help us measure traffic, engagement, and email performance.
- Advertising-attribution and audience-measurement vendors: companies that aggregate device and engagement data across publishers to measure advertising performance and to inform audience segments.
- Hosting, security, and infrastructure providers: companies that host the website, store backups, defend against fraud and abuse, and provide other technical infrastructure.
- Professional advisers: legal, accounting, and similar advisers who require information to provide their services to us.
- Authorities and other parties when required by law: regulators, courts, and law-enforcement agencies, where disclosure is legally required or appropriate to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Successors in a corporate transaction: in the event of a merger, sale, financing, reorganization, or similar transaction, information about subscribers and visitors may be transferred as part of the assets of the business.
6.3 Information Shared for Targeted Advertising
For purposes of advertising and audience measurement, we and our advertising partners may use information including device identifiers, IP addresses, browser fingerprints, hashed contact identifiers, and information about activity across publishers to deliver, measure, and improve advertising. Under California law and the laws of several other US states (Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and others as listed in Section 11), this kind of information sharing is treated as a “sale” of personal information or as “sharing” for targeted advertising. Subscribers and visitors in these states have specific opt-out rights, described in Section 11.
6.4 We Do Not Sell Information for Money
We do not exchange subscriber information for monetary payment from third parties. The “sharing” or “sale” referenced in Section 6.3 is the form recognized under state privacy law for advertising purposes, and is conducted to support the publication and to deliver advertising offers from our partners. Subscribers can opt out of this sharing as described in Section 11.
7. Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies
7.1 What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies allow the site to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and keep you logged in to features that require it. We also use technologies that work similarly to cookies — including web beacons, pixels, local storage, and software development kits — and the term “cookies” in this Section refers to all of these.
7.2 Categories of Cookies We Use
- Strictly necessary cookies: required for the site to function (for example, to remember that you have closed a notice or accepted these terms). These cannot be turned off.
- Functional cookies: remember preferences such as preferred language, dark mode, or which articles you have already read.
- Analytics cookies: help us understand how the site is used in aggregate, which content is most read, and where visitors come from. We use Google Analytics and similar services for this purpose.
- Advertising cookies: used by us and by our advertising partners to deliver and measure advertising, both on this site and on other sites you visit.
- Email tracking pixels: tiny image files embedded in our newsletters that allow us to measure whether the email was opened and which links were clicked.
7.3 How to Control Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies, delete cookies that have already been set, or alert you when a cookie is being placed. Disabling cookies may prevent some parts of the site from functioning correctly. For advertising cookies specifically, you can opt out of personalized advertising from many networks at the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tool (optout.networkadvertising.org), the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool (optout.aboutads.info), and similar industry programs. Mobile devices typically include a separate setting to limit ad tracking.
7.4 Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out from “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for residents of states whose laws recognize GPC, including California. If your browser sends a GPC signal when you access the site, we will treat that signal as an opt-out request for the device or browser sending it.
8. Email Communications and CAN-SPAM
When you subscribe to our newsletter, you will receive editorial content and promotional content from advertising partners. Every email we send, whether editorial or promotional, contains a working unsubscribe link. Selecting the unsubscribe link will remove your email from active distribution within the period required by the CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.), which is no later than ten business days after the request is received. We retain unsubscribed email addresses on a suppression list, indefinitely or for as long as the suppression file is needed to ensure that we do not contact unsubscribed users again. You can also unsubscribe by emailing support@insightfulword.com.
9. How Long We Keep Information
We retain personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in Section 5, to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Active newsletter subscribers’ email addresses are kept while subscribed; once unsubscribed, the address is moved to the suppression list described in Section 8. Aggregate analytics information that has been de-identified or aggregated is retained for longer periods because it is no longer linked to an identified person.
10. How We Protect Information
We use a combination of technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, and destruction. These include encrypted transmission of data between your browser and our servers, restricted internal access to systems holding subscriber information, vendor due-diligence for service providers we engage, and regular review of security practices. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify affected individuals and regulators in accordance with applicable law.
11. Your Privacy Rights
11.1 Rights Available to All Visitors
- You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any email or by contacting us.
- You can request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
- You can ask us to stop processing your information for direct marketing purposes.
- You can withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future.
11.2 Additional Rights for California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) gives you the rights described above and, in addition, the following:
- Right to know what categories of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months, the sources, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of recipients.
- Right to know the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
- Right to delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate information.
- Right to opt out of “sale” of personal information and of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to limit our use of “sensitive personal information” (we do not currently use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right).
- Right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of the above rights.
To exercise these rights, please email support@insightfulword.com with the words “California Privacy Request” in the subject line. We will verify your identity using information that matches what we already hold, and we will respond within the time required by law. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, in which case we will require written documentation of the authorization.
11.3 Additional Rights for Residents of Other US States
Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia have rights similar to those described in Section 11.2 under their state privacy laws. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@insightfulword.com and identify the state in which you reside; we will apply the rights and timelines available under the law of that state.
11.4 Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation, the UK GDPR, and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection respectively grant you specific rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Insightful Word is operated from the United States and our editorial focus is on US readers; we do not target our newsletter to subscribers in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland. If you are located in one of these regions and wish to exercise these rights, please contact us at support@insightfulword.com.
11.5 Residents of Canada
If you are a Canadian resident, you have the rights granted by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and by your provincial privacy laws. Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) also applies to commercial electronic messages we send to Canadian recipients; we send such messages only to subscribers who have voluntarily opted in.
12. International Data Transfers
Insightful Word is operated from the United States. Information we collect, including information about subscribers and visitors located outside the United States, is transferred to and stored in the United States. By using the site or by subscribing, you consent to this transfer. Where required by applicable law, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other recognized transfer mechanisms when we engage service providers in jurisdictions other than the country where the data was collected.
13. Third-Party Links and Content
Our articles and our newsletter may include links to third-party websites and embedded content from third-party services. We do not control these third parties and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. When you leave our site by clicking an external link, the privacy policy of the destination governs the rest of your visit. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
14. Accessibility
Insightful Word is committed to making its content accessible to readers with disabilities. If you experience difficulty accessing any part of the site or this Privacy Policy, please contact us at support@insightfulword.com so that we can address the issue.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, in technology, or in applicable law. When we update the Policy, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by a prominent notice on the site, by email to subscribers where appropriate, or by both. Your continued use of the site after the updated Policy takes effect indicates your acceptance of the updated terms.
